On September 18, 1959, Howard Lee Van De Berg, age 20 of Primghar, Iowa was charged with the alleged crime of Breaking and Entering of the Sharbondy Gas Station in Ashton, Iowa sometime in the night time in the early morning hours on the 18th.
Events of the Crime
On September 18, 1959, in the early morning hours, the Sharbondy Gas Station in Ashton, Iowa was broken into. Entry into the station was gained by breaking the back window. Howard Van De Berg later admitted to Howard Dunn, a resident of Sibley, Iowa that on or about September 18, 1959, he broke into the Sharbondy Gas Station in Ashton, Iowa, by breaking a window and entered the building through the broken window.
Judgment
On September 29, 1959, Howard Lee Van De Berg, age 20, pled guilty to the charge of Breaking and Entering with intent to commit a public offense in a building where goods and merchadise are kept for sale, in the night time, at the Sharbondy Gas Station in Ashton, Iowa. The defendant was sentenced to imprisonment in the State Penitentiary at Fort Madison, Iowa for a term not to exceed 10 years.
